For those curious or concerned about today's environmental challenges; for those wondering what individual actions might lead towards healthier, more sustainable living; for those wishing to make contact with like-minded people in the community, the month of March, 2012 brings the Environmental Film Festival.
Held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Venice (UUCOV), 1971 Pinebrook Road, Venice, FL 34292, the Festival will highlight a different topic each Monday evening in
March from 7 - 9 PM: a film followed by a knowledgeable speaker and the opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.
The schedule: March 5, "Ingredients" - the local food movement in which community, food safety, and flavor combine for better living and eating; March 12, "Tapped" - the story of bottled water: where it comes from and what it creates; March19, "Trashed" - what difference does it make that we create so much trash, and do we have other choices; and March 26, "Deep Green" - worldwide and personal initiatives to make a difference (this film will be followed by open discussion of what works.)
The Festival is co-sponsored by Green Sanctuary (a committee of UUCOV) and Transition Venice(a local movement of educational programs, community dialogue, and innovative projects). For questions or directions call the UUCOV office 941-485-2105. A $5 donation is requested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
